PSS to teenage girls
Coping with the situation has been hard on everyone, but even more if you are a woman or a teenage girl in a conservative environment. GBV (gender based violence) cases have increased as well as instances of early marriage, whereby desperate parents rush to marry their girls to ensure more financial stability and reduce the burden on the family!
Tri-pulley has selected to support an inspiring young mother, who has been married at an early age and is now divorced with children. She has been trained as a psycho-social support mentor specialized in gender and teenager issues. She has offered several workshop with various NGOs but is now without any source of income. Through your generous contributions she will coach 8 teenage girls from vulnerable families, as well as work with their parents when necessary to help them cope with the current situation and raise awareness on emerging issues through interactive psycho-social support activities. Moreover, the selected girls are a mix of refugees and Lebanese from conflicting neighbourhoods aiming at improving social cohesion through the initiative. Some of the girls had to drop out of school due to the financial situation of the family.
PSS is not a visit to the psychologist and it’s not coaching or mentoring per se. It is a safe space for people to vent and share their concerns where the facilitator picks up the fears and worries and elaborates on how to better cope with them. Topics discussed through interactive and fun methods are usually about self confidence, bullying, stress management, early marriage, violence , family planning; in general life matters and healthy routine settings that we all need!
